Renegade RX: A Jake Granite Adventure Project |

A scrolling shooter using their own engine called MASI (which is available for use for free by emailing them).
Renegade RX: A Jake Granite Adventure combines explosive vertical
scrolling top down shooting with a gripping film noir story. Drawing
from classics like Epic Megagames's Tyrian, Apogee Software's Raptor:
Call of the Shadows, and Remedy's Max Payne, Renegeade RX: A Jake
Granite Adventure reinvigorates western shooters for the modern age.
Told through the eyes of Jake Axle Granite, a charismatic hero with
more chin than chivalry, the narrative provdes a driving impetus for
ingame action and a satirical treatment of computer game culture in
general. A tale of love, betrayal, hope, and war, the only thing more
exciting is the game itself!
Exhilirating battles are fought over the surfaces of devastated worlds,
inside mechanical structures, and in the haunting depths of outer
space. The ability to customise your spacecraft and weapons provides a
refreshing take on a tested genre. With three episodes of engrossing,
unpredictable and incredibly memorable adventure, Renegade RX: A Jake
Granite Adventure is sure to leave you feeling amazed.

Project Esmay |

Build from scratch by a team of 4 students, and completed in 4 months.
These guys set up their own business so they could fulfil their work placement requirements their own way!
Project Esmay is a Strategy RPG for Nintendo’s Gameboy Advance handheld
gaming platform. In the game the player tours the nations of a
fictional world in search of the best tacticians and soldiers. The
player must then fight them, defeat them and/or recruit the best to
form their own elite fighting force to defeat an evil corporation
hell-bent on ruling the world.
It contains 28 overall missions grouped in a three act structure – 3
tutorial (or lead in missions), 20 primary missions, and 5 final
missions that lead to end-game. There also exists a headquarters, and
world map where missions are selected from (the headquarters allows for
an element of exploration and character development/interaction outside
of the games mission battles).
When the player starts the game they are in the employ of the ICARUS
Corporation. These first three missions are tutorial missions and while
introducing the player to the game mechanics they also introduce the
main characters, both good and bad (Alex, Dr Watson, Marshall, and
Southwick) as well as some of the back story.
Once the player character (Alex) reaches the Esmay1 (Dr Watson’s
Zeppelin base) – their options open significantly with a number of
optional/non-story focused missions becoming available as well as the
main storyline ones.
The game runs on a self-built 2D-side scrolling engine (similar to a
traditional platform game). It is designed for Nintendo’s Gameboy
Advance handheld gaming platform which has the largest install base of
any video game system and is still compatible with Nintendo’s newer DS
system.

Chihuahua Daily Online Word Puzzle |

Description: A web based word came where you must make as many words as
you can from the 9 available letters. You can play it online right now!
Chihuahua is a Web-based word puzzle with high score table. The initial version
went live in late September.
The client software is all JavaScript and CSS, there is Perl running on the
server, and the communication between client and server uses XMLHTTP where
possible.
When I first started to read about the new buzzword "Ajax" (Asynchronous
JavaScript And XMLHTTP) and its capacity to refresh the data on a Web page
without having to reload the page, I was just starting to have some doubts
about continuing to use Java applets for browser-based games, given the
uncertain availability of the run-time engine on Windows PCs in the future.
So I decided to see how good a job JavaScript could do on a puzzle-style game.
The result is Chihuahua.
The aim is to make as many words as possible from nine given letters.
The letter in the middle has to be used in every word. Words must be at least
four letters long, and at least one must use all nine letters.
